The Red Sea is Turquoise-blue, and calm. Its waves gently lap the Aqaba shore – a sandy beach with tourists sprawled across it. A few ships are lazily anchored in the water, waiting to enter either the Aqaba, or Eilat port.
The Israeli city of Eilat is clearly visible from here – clusters of concrete structures against a backdrop of barren hills. I am here too.
Unexpected pleasant surprises are always welcome in life. As our 4×4 was roaring through the desert expanse of Wadi Rum this morning, I did not expect to end the day by the seaside. It is a place of stunning beauty, and its serenity is refreshing.
